• Welcome to my blogsite!

Hello, I'm a Vancouver, BC based photographer who loves shooting weddings, portraits, events, and more... please check out my portfolio galleries for a glimpse of my work!

A wedding photographer has an awesome responsibility. There is only one opportunity to get the shots of those moments. I am honored each time a couple puts their faith in me to deliver beautiful images.

I love working for couples who agree that getting the photography right on their wedding day is of utmost importance. After all, when it's all said and done, all that will remain of the flowers, decorations, cake... and just about everything else from that day will be the images of them that I have documented. They better be great!

I am normally a man of few words (ironically, I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Communications), and perhaps that's why I have gravitated to photography as a career - a picture is worth a thousand words, so I like to just let my images do the talking.

A little “Vegas” at a Vancouver Wedding

Nella and Rino had considered a Las Vegas wedding. Well, that idea just didn’t fly with the family, so they changed their plans and honoured the family’s wishes. Now, as a surprise gift to the bride and groom, someone went and flew in a Neil Diamond impersonator from Vegas, just to do a set at their wedding reception! That was a definite highlight of the day! That, the croquembouche wedding cake (another thing you don’t see very often), and the real wedding crashers – how Vegas is that!!

Michelle & Nathan’s Vancouver Wedding

There is a lot of buzz surrounding the release of Apple’s new iPad. What does that have to do with Michelle and Nathan you ask? Just that Nathan is a software engineer who happens to work at Apple… Hmmm, I wonder if he’s going to get an iPad?

Michelle and Nathan’s wedding day was however computer free. Just some good people and a lot of fun times. I really liked that everyone was so willing to let loose and just goof around all day. Both the ceremony and reception were at The Landing in Gastown – which is a very nice venue! For the “formal” photos, we walked around Gastown a little, then headed to the Rose Garden in Stanley Park. Being a wedding photographer in Vancouver means I get to hang out in some very nice locations – great backdrops for creating great images!

Burnaby’s Got Talent – snippet

Last week on April 1st, the 2nd annual Burnaby’s Got talent show was held at Michael J. Fox Theater. Twenty-two acts competed in “Junior” and “Senior” categories, along with a few “Special Guests”. One of which was a kindergarden student Lucas, who sang “I did it my way” for the almost 400 people in attendance!

The winner in the Junior category was Hip-Hop dancer Jahlil. All in all, a very entertaining evening. I’ll be posting many of the shots I took that night up in a couple of days – until then…

UPDATE: The link to view all the posted images is at Pictage. The number of images posted will be changing as more release forms come in, so keep checking back the performer you are looking for has not yet been posted.

Kristina & Ivan’s Vancouver Wedding

Earlier this week I blogged about having an image accepted into the PPABC’s Image Salon show. I posted that particular image of Kristina, but here are a few of the other images from their wedding day! I hope they convey how much fun the whole day was. Partay!

Tajci Vancouver Concert

An old friend came through town last week to perform a concert of spiritual music. I first met Tajci way back in 1987, in a tourist resort on the coast of Croatia. She was the new kid (16 years old) singing in her father’s band. I had met her father, Stanko,  the previous year while he was touring with his band through Canada and the US.

Many people were saddened when Stanko passed away a few years ago. He truly was one of a kind. I spent a lot of time hanging out with him and a many of his other friends  (From 1987 through 1993 I spent about 14 months in Croatia). A lot of good times indeed.

After that summer of 1987, Tajci went on to some amazing success in the country’s music industry, and at the height of that success, left Croatia and moved to the US. I won’t try to tell her story here… but if you would like to read up a little… Tajci’s Story.

Back to the pictures! Here are several of the photos I took last week during her concert, followed but a few Black and White images that I took at one of her concerts way back in 1990. I love shooting in this type of concert setting – about as much as I love being a wedding photographer!

PPABC Competition Recognition

Well, for the first time ever, I entered the annual Salon Competition for the Professional Photographers Association of BC (PPABC). I was pleased that the following image was accepted into the show. It’s nice to know that a jury of my peers found it worthy! A big thank you has to go to Kristina – the bride whom I captured on her wedding day. She really does look great!

Burnaby’s Got Talent! 2010

Coming up on April 1st is the second annual “Burnaby’s Got Talent” show, put on by the Burnaby Optimists. It’s being held at the Michael J. Fox Theater. I was asked if I would photograph the contestants while they performed on stage… of course I said yes.

It’s too late now to register to compete, but it will no doubt be entertaining to watch. Come one, come all!

After the event, I’ll be posting all the images up at… http://www.pictage.com/799210
